Patient Assistance

What happens with families when a parent or child has a major need that is not covered by insurance, that is only partially covered or for which the family cannot access they care required.  Quite often, that family member must go without essential medical care, or the family goes ahead with treatment and incurs significant debt.  In either situation, the family simply continues to worry about health and finances.

The Capernaum Foundation uses its resources to facilitate access to affordable, premier quality medical care through participation with individuals and families in four program areas.

Education
The Capernaum Foundation helps in identification and education regarding subsidized medication programs and other resources that can minimize the direct cost impact to patients.

Community Fundraising
The Foundation helps people by providing ideas for community fundraising, helping connect community leaders with families in need, and in arranging restricted grants that can be funded through donations made on behalf of specific individuals.  Funds from these grants are only paid to medical providers or others who are offsetting authorized expenses, such as a contractor renovating a home restroom for a person with a disability.

Through our grants program, we provide financial aid to families in need.  We consider each of the following areas when reviewing grant requests:  family income, insurance coverage, medical condition, and effects of the requested services on regaining health.

Patient Grants

Consequently, the Capernaum Foundation requires that each grant recipient pay a portion of his or her medical expenses.  In our experience, when a patient or family has an investment in a medical outcome,

Destination Healthcare
Medical care in America is expensive.  Some diseases are considered futile for treatment by insurers and hospitals, leaving patients to fend for themselves.  In yet other instances, international centers of medical excellence are able to provide quality care with medical outcomes that exceed those in the US and often at more affordable cost.  The Foundation works with international providers to determine how to most effectively utilize the finances available to aid patients in returning to health.
