Our Purpose:
The Capernaum Foundation is founded on the belief that God loves us so much that He sent His Son into the world as both an example and sacrifice for us. As believers, we are called to love one another and to share His Word. We are fortunate to be able to do this through providing access to affordable, quality medical care.
Our Mission:
To improve the lives of individuals and families dealing with long-term, chronic disease and injury by providing access to affordable, premier quality healthcare.
Our Name:
Our name is derived from the Biblical city of Capernaum, Jesus’ adopted home and the headquarters location for much of His ministry. It was a place outside the mainstream where new ideas could flourish and to which many people came in search of hope and healing. Many of the healing miracles recorded in the Gospels took place in Capernaum, including:
- The paralytic man whose friends lowered him from the roof (Matt. 9:1+)
- The woman with the issue of blood (Matt. 9:20+)
- The man healed of a withered hand (Matt. 12:9+)
The city is also very near the location where Jesus fed more than 5,000 with two fishes and five loaves of bread, the image we include in our corporate logo. It reminds us that we are to use the resources available to us to care for others in their times of need.
