The rising costs of medical care create significant challenges for individuals and families across America. This is especially true for families who face the costs of long-term, disabling disease or injury. For many, including those who have health insurance, the out-of-pocket expenses create a barrier to regaining health.
The Capernaum Foundation™ is a non-profit, charitable organization established in 2007 that is committed to assisting individuals who cannot afford the out-of-pocket expenses for important medical care. We also work with our partnering organizations to create access to medical care at premier hospitals around the world that allow people to maximize their benefits and the funds available to them.
Even with a new health insurance reform law passed in the United States, people will continue to struggle with out-of-pocket medical expenses. Many of the provisions of the new law will not go into effect for several years, and even then the care many people require may not be accessible or affordable. People with chronic, long-term and/or disabling medical conditions need help in taking on these challenges. The Capernaum Foundation’s mission is to help ease that burden for them and their families.
The Capernaum Foundation provides opportunities for individuals and companies to donate, so that others can access the care they need. We provide grants for special medical procedures and seek ways to maximize the use of those grants by combining them with existing insurance benefits or utilizing the benefits of destination healthcare programs. We also require the grant recipient to contribute a fair share of the costs of the medical expense, because our experience shows that people who do so are more involved in their care and achieve better medical outcomes.
The Capernaum Foundation is a proud supporter of 9000 Needles. This award-winning documentary film chronicles the unconventional journey of stroke survivor Devin Dearth and shares the power faith, hope and a family’s love along the way.
We will post upcoming 9000 Needles screenings as they are known
